By Joel Shaw
Written Spring and Summer '99
Another modern miracle
Another poet tries to be lyrical
Another head goes by without enough follicles
It's just the manners of this age
It's wrapped around us like a parakeet's cage
The curtain opens and reveals an empty stage
The crowd should be enraged
(Bridge)
But, they sit in wonder cause they're
(Chorus)
Dry, dry as a bone
Dry, dry as a bone
Dry, and you don't even wonder why
You're dry as a bone
Another ghastly review
Another moment when there's nothing to do
You're like the three-toed sloth exhibit at the zoo
And when the television's on
It's like a renaissance for your few neurons
How long before you realize your id is gone
Just like Avalon
(Change)
Everything is up to you
Everything comes down to you
Chorus
Another day comes to a close
Another poet is reduced to prose
Another lawyer recites his client's list of woes
It's just the way you act today
Another second and you've run out of things to say
The curtain opens and reveals a sunny day
But you'll stay in all day
(Bridge)
Cause, you've got no imagination
Chorus
